Thank you for your interest in becoming a Benchling User Group leader. Our user group leaders are the driving force behind our global community – they go above and beyond to give back to the Benchling community by taking the lead and passionately running our user groups, helping people to connect and learn from one another.

As a group leader, you’ll help connect people in smaller user groups – based on geographic location or a shared interest. You’ll coordinate in-person and/or virtual meetup events for your group, and be the point person for the Benchling team.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and applicants will receive notification regarding next steps within 10 business days of submitting their application.

Frequently asked questions

How does Benchling select speakers?

All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of Benchlings from different departments and backgrounds. Each submission will be rated anonymously. Finalists will be reviewed to ensure diverse speaker representation.

Check out our advice below on how to submit a winning proposal.

f I am selected as a speaker, will my travel expenses be covered?

No, Benchling does not cover travel expenses.

If I am selected as a speaker, will I receive a free ticket to Benchtalk?

Benchtalk is a free event. There is no cost to attend. So, yes ;)

Are partners eligible to apply?

Yes but we ask that you identify a customer who will present on the topic with you, since the audience continuous tells us that hearing experiences from their peers is the most valuable part of Benchtalk.

How to submit a winning proposal

Tip #1

Clearly align to a topic

We've curated topics based on audience demand. The more relevant your idea is to a topic, the greater its chances of being selected.

Tip #2

Get specific

Provide us with specific anecdotes or examples that vividly illustrate your idea. Avoid being generic.

Tip #3

Lead with data

We love data – and your peers do too! Substantiate your proposal with quantitative metrics.

Tip #4

Flex your credibility

Why are you the best person to give this talk? Tell us your relevant experience and – even better – show us by linking to your work.
