Mikkel has been with the Novo Nordisk Foundation since 2026, where he drives activities in innovation and entrepreneurship. His team is a critical bridge between scientific programme areas, incubators (e.g. BII) and the early commercial activities of Novo Seeds.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Mikkel has served as Research Attaché in Palo Alto, California for the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education and Head of development for the Danish Business Research Academy. Mikkel has also been Director for Science and Innovation in Damvad Analytics.
Mikkel Skovborg holds a Masters in Political Science from Copenhagen University, Denmark.

Enginzyme develops enzymatic processes for large-scale chemical manufacturing. Our enzymes are designed to withstand industrial conditions and are often stabilised by immobilisation to enable catalyst recycling, leading to the creation of complex entities and result tables within our LIMS infrastructure. During a catalyst development cycle, we collect experimental and computational data, which is saved in our warehouse via Benchling and extracted via queries and AI tools like Deep Research to be transformed into actionable models and visualisations. This presentation focuses on how we tackled the challenge of designing, maintaining, and leveraging a data model that serves customer-focused projects and provides a solid base for the development of future, AI-supported technologies, with a focus on applications in enzyme engineering.
